The Orangery--Knoxville

Oh…the memories of The Orangery.   I haven’t been to the restaurant in six or more years.   This wonderful restaurant has reopened for everyone to enjoy!

The Orangery closed a while back when Karen decided she needed a much needed rest.  There was a wave of disappointment that rolled over Knoxville.  Most couldn’t believe that the restaurant would be no more.   Too many weddings, proms, proposals and fabulous food would be no more.   I was sad.

After a long period, The Orangery has reopened with an All NEW Staff, Management and Executive Chef.  I believe they have recaptured the essence of the old Orangery and converted it into the wonderful new Orangery.

Lunch begins at 11:30 and we were the first to arrive.  Actually, we were even a little early since both Miss M and I were very hungry.  I had high hopes and The Orangery didn’t fail.

We began with the House Salad featuring blue cheese, English cucumber, candied pecan, tomato, carrot ribbon, sherry vinaigrette for $4.00.  Our server, Rebecca brought wonderful honey wheat bread to accompany the salad.  Freshly baked and “room temperature” butter.   I hate getting the bread to the table to find they are serving FROZEN butter on the plate.   Seems to happen quite a bit.

Our entrées continued with Flash Fried Oyster Baguette-- caper vinaigrette, roasted garlic aioli, arugula, oven roasted tomato, potato frites, Lemon, Capers, Garlic, Asiago, Light Chardonnay Sauce, Penne Pasta for $12.00.   I chose the Boursin Cheese Stuffed Chicken en Crouté, Whipped Yukon Potatoes, Swiss Chard, Champagne Dijon Cream for  $14.00.   I just had to taste the fried oysters….they were crispy and flavorful.    The chicken was moist, flavorful, but the star of the plate was the Yukon potatoes.   They were heaven on the plate.   Perfectly seasoned purée enrobing the nice chunks of potato.  Never been a fan of over whipped cafeteria style mashed potato.  I just loved those flavors with the Swiss Chard accompaniment.
